analogue wednesday #12 special guest fred from we blog you

Last week I showed you Astrid's pictures of London. This week I'm sharing more London photos but this time captured by the lens of another special guest: Fred Gomes of We Blog You. It's that London is just beautiful in film photography. I hope you enjoy Fred's pictures as I do. Thank you Fred!

analogue wednesday #11 special guest astrid from hei astrid

And tusen takk Astrid!

I always love to see how others capture the city I live in and I think London is a great city to capture with film! The overcast sky, the soft light, the earth tones, that London atmosphere... they are beautifully portrayed on film. This week, instead of showing you my pictures, I'm sharing some photos I instantly fell in love with taken by Astrid Hagen from the lovely blog Hei Astrid. I look at her pictures and can't help to fall in love yet again with London. Hope you enjoy them as well! And tusen takk Astrid!

and we're back...

We spent the last six weeks in Lisbon with family and friends (thanks to the maternity leave and freelance life). It was nice for once to not rush through the days as the previous visits. It was good to see friends (some at least) more than just once in a group dinner full of sound and light conversations, even if in the end we couldn't see everyone. It was nice to give the grandparents time with the new grandson. It was great to see our family and our friends fall in love with our child. It was good to get a lot of sun in winter days, my favourites. It was nice to go to the beach and the Alentejo. It was nice to walk around Lisbon with less rush than usual, even if it was so much left to see. It was nice to discover that you can push a stroller through many of the narrow cobblestone streets (even if the unruled parking continues). It was really good and now we are back home in London. And it's so good to feel this cold air, with a hint of snow, that gives me energy. And it's so good to meet friends and neighbours casually on the street and see that we were missed. And it's so good to be back in warm houses with central heating and soft lights. And it's so nice to walk in the wide sidewalks with ramps for strollers and wheelchairs.

It's so good to feel at home in both countries. A luxury, a real privilege.

Designers/Makers at Old Spitalfield Market

-------------
Weekends in London are all about markets! A few weeks ago I was invited for blogger's brunch at Old Spitalfields Market by the lovely folks behind Designers/Makers. I was thrilled with the opportunity to meet fellow bloggers from London as well as having a special insight into a notable group of makers.

Designers/Makers (D/M) is an agency for contemporary Design & Craft within the UK. They aim to create and support a community of local artists who make handmade products. They offer resources and several marketing and selling events for their members (but not exclusively). A regular feature is the monthly market at Old Spitalfields Market, running every third Saturday of the month, where you can find a highly curated group of artists selling their unique creations. (Note: to participate in the market you don't have to be a D/M member)

No Sábado então lá me encontrei com a Nicci e Lucy do blog Fancy-full e a Cheylene do blog Girl in London e ainda a Hollye e a Sophie, a fundadora da Designers/Makers.

I met Nicci and Lucy the lovely girls who run Fancy-full, and Cheylene the force behind the Girl in London, and also D/M founder Sophie and Hollye from the D/M team. We had the chance to get to know each other and the spirit of Designers/Makers over an a-m-a-z-i-n-g crepe from Crepe Affaire. This place is not to miss if you are in the area. I went very classic with a nutella one (after reading nutella I'm usually unable to chose other) but they have lots of different crepes, sweet and savoury.

-------------
After this indulgence we jumped into the shops! I have been following Designers/Makers for some time now and I really admire their amazing curator taste and how they can bring together such a creative groups of makers. Sophie and Hollye left us to roam the market at our own will and below are the artists who caught my attention.

-------------
It's no secret that I love all things stationery and prints. I was completely smitten by the work of Hanna Melin, a Swedish artist living in London.

Her illustrations are so beautiful and you can find them in prints, postcards, tea towels, coasters, tapes and other products. Below is a sample from Hanna's website.

The cassette print came home with me and I absolutely love it. The best part is that it can be personalised! What a great gift this would make for a music lover!

-------------
Anna Dent's graphic work also caught my eye, so colourful with a retro touch! I was charmed by the "recipes" prints. And Anna told me she could personalized them too. Wouldn't it look nice to have your favourite recipe hanging in the kitchen for beautiful and easy consultation? Maybe your mum's rad chocolate cake?

Another stall bursting with creativity was Ladybird Likes. I was attracted by the Lomo Diana camera funny jewellery but Zoe's shop is an endless source of imagination filled with funny, vintage and floral motifs applied in jewellery and stationery.

And finally I loved Lovely Jojo's sense of humour. I bought two of those onesies for my friends babies who are coming into the world anytime soon!

And this was only the sample that caught my eye! Make sure you see it by yourself. Designers/Market are organising a special Christmas Market at the Southbank Centre Winter Festival that will run from 16-22 December 2013 (opening Monday-Sunday / 11am-8pm)

For those you can't make it to London, check the Designers/Makers shop filled with great products from many other artists or check each artists individual shop I mentioned.
